BEWI – Product Details

BEWI Thermomur is available in various block dimensions that achieve different u-values. It is made of high-density EPS which is moulded from BEWI’s own polystyrene bead. This Insulated Concrete Formwork building system consists of an inner and outer skin of EPS tied together using with plastic webs. These webs are moulded into the polystyrene blocks, keeping the structure stable and provide a fixing point for internal or external finishes. The core is then filled with concrete producing a high strength insulated concrete structure with inherent air tightness and sound reduction.

The robust ICF blocks, developed and refined over 30 years in Scandinavia, produce a rapid build programme free from the mishaps of ‘concrete bursts’ that are sometimes associated with other ICF systems.

EPS foams are sustainable building products, saving more energy in a few months of use than was used for their production. They are non-hazardous, and their durability is as long as the lifetime of the building in which it is used and it’s a well-known fact that there are Roman structures still standing that are made from concrete.

JACKODUR Atlas is produced from extruded polystyrene foam (XPS). It is an intelligent, efficient thermal insulation and formwork system for floor slabs, ideal for constructing raft foundations for low energy buildings. XPS offers high compressive strength and durability and is unaffected by moisture.

XPS foams are sustainable building products, saving more energy, resources and emissions in a few months of use than was used for their production. They are non-hazardous and last as long as the lifetime of the building in which it is used.

The thermal performance of the system can be varied by using different thickness of material. The system can be supplied cut to size, minimising waste and enabling a rapid build programme.

BEWI – Technical Information / Accreditation

Our systems can be specified to meet different u-value requirements without the need for additional insulation, saving time on site and ensuring the integrity of the structure. We can offer u-values that exceed Passive House standards with market leading Ψ values.
Standard architectural details are available, and our technical team can provide solutions for non-standard designs.

Jackon can provide RIBA accredited architectural CPD courses for both Insulated Concrete Formwork and Insulated Concrete Raft Foundation systems and we provide regular ‘hands on’ classroom and on-site training programmes.

Jackon products undergo stringent quality control and are tested, certified and approved by leading European technical institutes. Jackon has a thorough Environmental Product Declaration that analyses the long-term impact on the environment due to the manufacture, transport, utilisation and recyclability of the products.

Key manufacturing management certifications include ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 18001 and ISO 50001.
